May 12: Milwaukee Fair Trade Crawl

Saturday, May 12th is World Fair Trade Day and time for the 5th Annual Greater Milwaukee Fair Trade Crawl. Milwaukeans will join with hundreds of thousands of people in cities all over the globe to take a “Fair Trade Break” to remember the working conditions of the producers around the world who bring us the foods and products we use daily and celebrate how fair trade helps fight modern-day slavery around the globe.
This year’s Fair Trade Crawl theme is "Know your producer - Know your product," and the Crawl is the day before Mother’s Day. What a great chance to purchase a unique, handmade gift for our own mothers while we celebrate how fair trade brings hope to many women around the world who would not be able to provide for their families without the opportunity fair trade offers them. As you crawl from shop to shop, see how many of the "featured products" were made by women!
Our World Fair Trade Day celebration this year at Four Corners of the World will feature Mt Meru Coffee, a project of the ELCA Lutheran Milwaukee Synod.
Please join us on Saturday, May 12th between 10 am and 4 pm.
For more information on the Greater Milwaukee Fair Trade Crawl, please visit www.milwaukeefairtradecoalition.org .
